About Us

Vulcan Fire Department (station 18) was created in the early 1950’s. We are currently sitting at 21 members, and always want more. The Vulcan Fire Department started out with a 1929 Ford Fire truck as its town unit. In 1961 the Rural Fire Coop was formed. They purchased their own truck and to this date still provide protection to the Vulcan rural area. Vulcan Fire department now provides fire protection, and Medical first response to our district. Vulcan Fire Department also operates the Rescue unit for Vulcan and District Emergency Services Society, responding to all motor vehicle collisions that occur within the county of Vulcan.

Anyone wishing to join our department can do so by contacting us and arranging to come to our fire practice. Vulcan fire department practices every tuesday evening from 7pm to 9pm.

Junior Firefighter Program.

Vulcan Fire Department partnered up with County Central High School in 2004 to create a Junior Firefighter program. This program allows students in Grades 10 through 12 to join the fire department. These students attend practices like regular firefighters, as well as attend calls. Junior firefighters are allowed to respond to emergency calls 24 hours a day 7 days a week as long as schooling permits. Vulcan Fire Department has had many junior firefighters over the past few years and is excited to continue on with the program.
